Prologue preview

Posted by desflurane on July 6, 2011

[I had linked the wrong video, it is corrected now. There were two separate videos and now there are two links… you get the idea! -b]

There is a video linked on the Romaniacs facebook that has an interview with Martin as well as a sneak look at the prologue plans for this year.

Martin’s interview is in English, but the rest is in Romanian – but you can get the gist of what is going on.

The Prologue will be more or less the same format as last year – about a quarter mile long with lots of nasty obstacles.

Andy – the guy who designs the course every year – describes two of the new ideas he is going to perpetrate upon the contestants.

One involves a metal freestyle ramp to jump over a large pile of something or other – throw in a double backflip if you must…

The other involves some sort of overhead framework with objects (rocks?, logs?, landmines?) suspended from it. He sketches it out on paper and seems to indicate that the riders must tackle these hovering items by riding up and over them. Imagine riding your bike over the seat of a park swing. Sounds like a bit of a challenge.

Fortunately for both of these little delights he clearly indicates an alternate, easier means of passage for “chickens.” How thoughtful!
